Never heard of Ashwaganda? It is known as the "King of of Ayurvedic herbs." The plant grows natively in India and Northern Africa. Long used in that part of the world for multiple reasons, the herb has really shone in helping to lower stress and cortisol levels in studies in the west. More studies are needed for some of the problems in which it has been traditionally used. But, unless there is a lot of money to be made, the studies just aren't funded. Why? ... you may ask...You can't patent an herb. Thus the pharmceutical industry isn't interested.
Also of note in western studies is an increase in power output in strengthening training in both sedentary and athletic people. AND a decrease in total cholesterol. And blood pressure. And blood glucose.
Ayurvedic medicine has also used it to increase fertility in men by increasing sperm motility, sperm quality, and testosterone. Athletes were shown to have increased stamina during exercise.
When choosing an Ashwagandha supplement, you will want to make sure that the ingredients are "standardized" to contain a minimum of amount of these nutrients. Vitabase Ashwagandha is standardized to provide a minimum of 4.5% of these nutrients.
